Top 10 Reasons To Buy The NEW Lexus RX 2023!
The Lexus RX was the first hybrid luxury SUV back in 2005, and now after 17 years, it's the last vehicle in its class to offer a hybrid option.
Now for 2023, the all new Lexus RX lineup will get a full redesign, and this new fifth-gen model sees significant changes while maintaining its core personality. But what are the latest features which make the new Lexus RX worth buying? Let's find out.
An All New Redesign
With just a year apart, the all new 2023 Lexus RX 350 shares nothing in common with the previous 2022 RX SUV. With a brand-new design for the new 2023 RX model year, the Lexus RX 350 is going to be bolder than ever, and the new styling also reaches inside the cabin.
The automaker has also done away with the previous V6 engine and now fitted the Lexus RX 350 with a turbocharged inline-four-cylinder. One major issue that many potential buyers had with the last model was the difficult touchpad, which is now thankfully gone, welcoming a new touchscreen infotainment system as well.
Updated Engine
While the outgoing Lexus RX gets its power from a V6, the automaker has downsized the luxury crossover’s engine options for its fifth-gen and it will now offer a variety of four different four-cylinder engines. The entry-level RX will come with a turbocharged 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder which will produce 275 hp and 317 pound-feet of torque, and it’s coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission which will send power to the front wheels as standard, even though AWD is said to be optional. Next is the Lexus RX 350h hybrid. It will get a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 3 electric motors which will combine for a total output of 246 horsepower along with 233 pound-feet of torque. It will come standard with AWD and a CVT automatic transmission.
Moving on the top of the new 2023 RX trim range, the automaker will offer the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, that will give the same 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that can be found in the 350h but at the same time much more more capable electric motors, increasing the power output to 302 horsepower. Also, there’s the range-topping performance-focused RX 500h F Sport Performance hybrid. It is the only hybrid RX that gets the more powerful turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 3 electric motors, and it also gets its own six-speed automatic transmission along with AWD.
Smooth Drive
When it comes to handling, The all new Lexus RX's soft suspension tuning has it fixed on the comfort side of the spectrum. The bumps in the road are mostly shrugged off with barely any recognition. User's will hear a muted thud but generally won't feel much of a change, and that's one of the Lexus RX's greatest strengths.
Now that softness does little for cornering confidence. It certainly doesn't encourage sporty driving like a BMW X5 does, and it feels heavy and ponderous by comparison. The body roll is noticeable but not alarming. You'll also feel some residual bouncing on offset undulations, but not enough to feel queasy. The softness carries over to the brakes, which have a spongy pedal with lots of travel. As the only conventional hybrid in the class, fuel economy is noteworthy.
Remarkable Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is one aspect where vehicles in this highly-competitive luxury midsize SUV segment can increase the edge over the competition. Now that the automaker has thrown out the bigger V6 engine and has replaced it with a four-cylinder unit, the fuel economy of the RX 350 gets pretty high and impressive estimates.
The all new 2023 Lexus RX should make an estimated 22 mpg in the city; on the highway, that number would go up to 29 mpg. Of course, those figures would go a single unit down each on the AWD variant, which still makes for some great fuel efficiency in this class.
Sporty New Exterior
The all new 2023 Lexus RX 350 is a stunner, and there is no other way to put it. In the next generation RX, the front of the hood almost flows down into the signature spindle grille. Its jewel-like headlamps flank the grille on either side, which make for a highly striking front fascia.
Going over to the back, the two tail lamps from older generations are replaced by a single, distinct LED 'Blade Tail Lamp', running along the rear of the SUV. The new 2023 Lexus RX's angular edges exude elegance and power.
Modern Interior
The all new 2023 RX's interior also gets a full makeover with some notable improvements. The dash will feature a large 9.8-inch standard touchscreen or a 14-inch upgrade.
