Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at something I think is pretty neat. These are adjustable bungee cords. We have three different links available and what they allow us to do is use a bungee cord, but it gets rid of a lot of the headaches that come with them. Generally you get all your gear loaded up, you start to bungee them in, and one bungee cord is too short. The other bungee cord's too long.
You got to try to wrap it around and hook it back to something. They can just be really a pain to use. With this design though, regardless of the length that we're trying to reach, we can get excellent tension on our straps. These have an adjuster built in right here. You can see we're able to slide this if we need something that's a little bit longer or push it down if we need something that's just a little bit shorter. I'm just going to pull this in and it's going to give us good range there.
With that being the case, we can get it adjusted to the length that we need and make nice solid connections. The connection point itself, it's going to be a steel hook so we get great strength out of it. You see no flex or no give to it. And it's also a rubber coated, so if we don't want to say our cargo carrier, whatever we're connecting to, if we don't want that to get scratched, it's not going to be something that we have to worry about. Now when relaxed these are going to be what they consider a nine millimeter strap, so they have really good tension to them as you're trying to stretch them and trying to pull them, they give you a lot of tension. It's definitely going to help.
You can see, really hold our items in really well and unlike other ones, since we can get proper tension on these, we don't have to worry about them bouncing off as we hit stuff. And another thing I like about these straps is that we don't have to have 18 different length bungee straps around. They come in three different sizes. The greens that we have here, these are going to be 16 inches to 24 inches from hook to hook. The orange are 22 to 32. We even offer a yellow that's going to go anywhere from 28 up to 48 inches.
So you can imagine by just having two of these, two of these and two of the yellows, it's really going to cover all your bases. Now the adjuster itself is good dense plastic. It has a flat spot here on the backside, so that should be able to rest up against any items that we're going to be hauling. I'd say, except for very, very delicate items, you wouldn't have any issue with this causing any kind of damage to it, but if there's something that you've got a good finish on, you're really concerned about, it might leave a little bit of a mark on it.So if I'm just being honest with you, generally bungee cords aren't my favorite securement method. That wouldn't be my first choice, but these things do help change my mind a little bit. I like the adjustability. I like that they have good tension, they have nice strong hooks to them, and if I had a need, I'd pick up a set of these. I really like the way these work. Again, that adjustability I think is huge with bungee cords. As an alternative to this, if you wanted something more in the ratchet strap style, that's something I would look at, or even a cam buckle style strap. We offer a four pack of straps from etrailer. They come in a nice carrying kit. That might be a good alternative to getting items like this secured as well.
