Carb working well for years on Echo trimmer GT-2200, but the interior parts made of elastic material get old and stiff with age. The carb can be fitted with new parts. This is a view of the carb before repair, showing original gaskets. Original parts are matched to new parts. Old parts are set aside.
Clean and inspect each carb sections to prepare for fitting new parts. Primer bulb was replaced a couple years ago, so is not replaced at this time.
New parts are fresh and flexible, the metering diaphragm is important for smooth operation & idle.
The pump section must have good and flexible flappers or carb will not be able to pull fuel from gas pickup tube. Actually, all parts must be in good condition for correct operation.
Did not use the new metering needle, wanted to see if the old parts were ok.
After assembly and testing, the metering needle and inlet screen were fine, so new parts are kept for later.
Testing after final assembly was good, carb and trimmer are operating like new, with full power at full RPM and stable idle speed when throttle is released.
Stopped using ignition kill and set aside for a few minutes.
Warm restart on first pull as expected with no choke.
Spark plug is unchanged, CJ7Y set to about 0.027
Only the fuel pickup and vent are getting old and stiff but not leaking. No change to idle set lever at midpoint. Idles well. Gas to Oil mix ratio is always 32:1
