"The opposition party MPs are holding a protest outside Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Parliament against the disruption of the monsoon session for the third day. The newly formed opposition alliance INDIA has been holding protests demanding the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a statement over the issues and situation in Manipur.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has however not spoken in the Parliament about the state of Manipur. He had till now only spoken about Manipur outside the parliament, and not initiated any debate with the parliament members.
The opposition parties were seen holding INDIA for Manipur placards demanding PM Modi to come to parliament and speak on the Manipur violence. The opposition further held this protest at night.
The Congress stated that the parliament did not function for the third day because of continuous refusal of the government to accept the opposition demand for a statement by PM Modi in both the houses on Manipur situation.
The opposition further wants a debate on the Manipur crisis allowing all the opposition parties to speak without any time restrictions.
The government has, however, accused the opposition of running away from debate on other important issues. The opposition has accused the government of running away from the main issue.
The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has alleged the government and stated that the PM should come to the parliament and make a statement. He further stated that the PM is speaking outside the house but not inside, which is an insult to the parliament.
Amid the ruckus in Rajya Sabha, the Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar suspended Sanjay Singh for the entire monsoon session for violating the directives of the chair. After his suspension, Sanjay Singh stated that if the house does not speak on Manipur violence, then he would only state the PM as a shameless, coward and cruel ruler.
Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on suspension of Sanjay Singh stated to the media that ever since the alliance INDIA has been formed, the government wants to create an environment to throttle opposition voices.
Meanwhile, the Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the government is ready for discussion on Manipur and requested the opposition to discuss the issue.
Now, the question to ask is why our PM has not given any statement in the parliament on such a big issue of Manipur. The whole state of Manipur was burning, the PM stayed silent. Once a video from the state of Manipur became viral, the PM spoke about Manipur outside the parliament for just 36 seconds. And now, why the PM is not initiating a debate in the house on the Manipur crisis.
