The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has rejected the three-year power transition plan proposed by Niger's junta. Speaking to BBC, the ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security said the bloc will not accept any prolonged transition of power. On August 19, Niger’s self-declared leader, Abdourahmane Tchiani, said the junta plans to return Niger to civilian rule within three years. Watch the video to find out more.
