Crossair Flight 3597, an Avro RJ100 was a flight between Berlin and Zurich on November 24, 2001 with 33 people on board.
The Crash:
The flight had departed Berlin at 9:01pm and had flown for about an hour before approaching Zurich. As the aircraft neared the runway, the pilots were cleared for an ILS approach for runway 14, but had been switched to runway 28, due to a noise law past 10pm. There were poor visibility conditions from the clouds in the areas so the pilots struggled to find the airport. They were about to initiate a go-around, but it was too late. The plane encountered terrain, were it struck trees and engulfed into flames. The plane then crashed and broke up near a small town called Basserdorf. 24 people died with 9 people surviving.
