Public and private asset owners including local authorities, utility companies, highway agencies and rail operators manage asset data with a variety of systems. They face challenges due to a lack of integration between typically siloed solutions where access to information and utilisation is often available to only a select group of expert users. Amongst the most commonly used systems are GIS and document management tools that hold documentation, CAD drawings and BIM files. To achieve connected, universally accessible asset data, which will be vital for Smart Cities and National Digital Twins, it is critical that structured datasets are integrated allowing users to move between systems with confidence that they are viewing and modifying information about the same assets. This presentation will describe how the partnership between Autodesk and ESRI offers the potential for owners to manage their geospatial asset data alongside BIM models. Technical integrations between each organisation’s systems now allow a user to consume geospatial vector and raster data to prepare 3D models of assets in full local context.
