Have you ever seen a player get ejected and then brought back into the game 3 minutes later?
Andre Drummond got his 2nd technical on this out of bounds play for pushing Wemby, but after acknowledging that Victor flopped on the review, the refs called off the ejection and Drummond gets a second chance in this game. And hear what the ref had to say about it:
But she wasn’t done because 5 minutes later after calling a charge on Embiid here which got him all mad, Jenna ejected Joel as well, but this time it was for real.
With all this happening on the Sixers side, they still had the lead at halftime, which suddenly ballooned in the 3rd quarter, when they actually got to focus on playing basketball. (8:05 filer)
Philly blitzed the Spurs with an 18 to 2 run in the 3rd to get a 15 point lead, and the crowd was loving it.
But in the 4th, out of the blue Julian Champagnie popped off, knocking down shot after shot from downtown, bringing the Spurs back into this game all by himself. 11:15 filer
Champagnie scored all of his 15 points in the final period, and tied the game with 3 and a half to play.
Now, with the game on the line, Wembanyama drained his 6th 3 pointer of the game to put San Antonio up by 1, rounding off the amazing comeback.
And just when you think that the Spurs will run out of magic tricks, this happens.
But then, Tyrese Maxey turned on the jets because…
Maxey with the steal and the one handed jam in transition to take back the lead, and on his free throw miss, Yabusele caught Champagnie by surprise and won another possession for Philly.
So, with 40 seconds to go, it’s hero o’clock, and Tyrese would make the entire arena erupt…
In the absence of Embiid, Maxey takes on the responsibility and drains the dagger. On the other end, Chris Paul tries to respond quickly with a 3 of his own but misses it, as the Sixers hang on to win this unusual game to say the least.
And in a game where Ja Morant does this kind of acrobatics, the Grizzlies usually win.
But despite both teams having their moments in this game, it all came down to the wire where James Harden reminded us of a couple of his good old recipes.
Look at Harden man, his playstyle is timeless.
However, Memphis would respond by attacking the paint, first with triple J battling inside against Zubac, and then Morant blowing past Powell while still in transition to cut the lead to a single point.
And after this really unlucky miss by Kris Dunn where the ball was literally half way through, the Grizzlies would tie the game on the free throw line.
But on the next possession, Zubac decides to create his own luck because…
What a great play by the Clippers, Batum drops a perfect pass to big Zu for the monster finish.
On the other end, Ja goes full steam ahead and gets fouled, so he goes to the line and knocks down both freebies, tying the game yet again.
So, it’s LA on the move, when Norman Powell says I got this.
Norm pulls out the middy for his 27th point of the game, giving his team the lead in the clutch.
But they still need a stop if they want to upset the home team, so…
Morant stumbles going into Dunn’s chest and throws the ball to JJ who steps out of bounds, and now they have to foul. They chased the Clippers too long before fouling Powell with less than 6 seconds to play. And he stays cool as ice, giving his team a 4 point lead which proved to be enough as LA escapes Memphis with the win.
The Celtics tried to escape from an injury riddled Orlando team as well, despite shooting just 3 for 15 from long range in the first half. But even with a horrific outside shooting, they still had a 15 point lead.
But once the 2nd half started, the Magic would show us that they fight no matter who’s on the floor for them.
The Magic evaporated Boston’s lead in the 3rd quarter, showcasing their top 3 defense in the league in full bloom.
Orlando outscored Boston 36 to 21 to tie the game going into the final period.
They continued with their stellar play in the 4th led by Trevelin Queen who banked his second 3 pointer of the glass in the first start of his career.
And on this play Orlando even got to a 10 point lead, with Da Silva sending the crowd into delirium.
And tensions were high on the court as well…
This seemed to shake off the Magic a little bit, as Boston didn’t panic, showing their championship mentality even without Tatum on the floor.
Little by little, they’re right back into this game, and since Orlando couldn’t hit a bucket to stop the streak, the Celtics had a chance of taking over the lead in the clutch.
And with less than 20 seconds to go, who’s going to be the guy for the home team?
Great ball movement by the Magic, finding Tristan Da silva in the corner who splashes down the 3 for a 4 point lead. And with Jalen Brown missing the 3 on the other end, it’s time for celebration in Florida.
