This was a particularly interesting year for the climate talks, since they are generally held in a host country but for the first time were held at the UNFCCC headquarters on behalf of the country of Fiji.
There was also a conspicuous new presence at the talks: the We Are Still pavilion, a campus group of inflatable tents that hosted a subnational coalition of U.S. states, municipalities, and institutions that came to Bonn to show U.S. support for international climate action despite the Trump administration's decision to pare back the U.S. delegation and "cancel" the Paris Agreement.
