After learning about the leather sewing capabilities of the Chinese Shoe Patcher machines, I bought one and watched the modification videos showing the motorization of the machines. I wanted a hands-free option but decided on the treadle instead of a motor. I did use all the parts suggested by one of the motor guys....the pulley and poly "belt" work fine. I bought a sewing machine base ($50), added some angle, put some black locust 1x on it and secured the block of locust to get the pulley above the table surface. It works fine but it's going to take a while to get the hang of the treadle operation....and I should have put the handle back on the pulley, you need it. One final suggestion - when you cut and melt the poly belt back together to get the right length, apply only enough heat (candle flame) to melt the cut surface of the poly....if the whole surface of both cut ends is liquid, hold them together for about 20 seconds. If you get them too hot or burn them, the joint may not hold.
