Footage shows looted Paris shops in ruins amid riots for the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old boy during a traffic stop in a Paris suburb.
Videos on social media have also shown fires across the country, including at a tram in the eastern city of Lyon.
The officer was charged with voluntary homicide on Thursday, 29 June, and placed in provisional detention in the capital.
