A volcano in Iceland which has erupted multiple times since December continued to spew out lava on Tuesday. As activity continued at the eruption site, a few kilometers (miles) northeast of the town of Grindavik, the solar eclipse that amazed North America was also partially visible on Monday evening.
One crater was erupting from the volcano and the active lava flow was confined close to the volcanic cone, far from infrastructure, officials said.
Tourist bookings in Iceland are growing more slowly than forecast with travelers deterred by high prices and frequent volcanic eruptions near an inhabited area. A volcano near the town of Grindavik has erupted several times since December. The eruptions are taking place close to the country’s top tourist attraction, the Blue Lagoon spa.
