The members of the Belfast hip hop group Kneecap had every reason to be skeptical in 2019 when they were approached by someone claiming to be a filmmaker who wanted to tell their story.
Luckily, over many, many pints of Guinness, writer/director Rich Peppiatt was able to talk Moglaí Bap, Mo Chara and DJ Provaí into telling their story in a kinetic, entertaining biopic that hits theaters tomorrow.
We chatted with Peppiatt about adapting the band's lives into a film, the type of Irish movie he didn't want to make and whether or not he plans to collaborate with Kneecap in the future.
