A UNHCR relief convoy, carrying food, medicine, blankets and other provisions, left Pristina on Saturday (1/8) en route to forests near Malisovo. Ethnic Albanians from Kosovo are hiding there after Serb forces drove the Kosovo Liberation Army (the KLA) from several strongholds. Tom Varkas, the head of the UNCHR's office in Pristina, said the refugees were now in dire straits, lacking the basic necessities. Concerns over security have severly hampered efforts to reach an estimated 20,000 refugees.
