Farsi Puri Recipe, Crispy deep Fried Traditional Gujarati Snack
Can be enjoyed on their own or with some pickles. Made in our Indian Kitchen here in uganda
Ingredients:
• 1bowl meidaFlour
• 1 tbsp Ground Black Pepper
• 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
• 1.5 tbsp Salt
Kasoori methi
Chart masala1tsp
Method
• 250g Pack of Salted Butter (Meltet or gheee)
• 2.5 Cups plane (add more or less depending on dough stiffness)
• Sunflower or Vegetable Oil for Deep Frying
Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl, then pour in the melted butter or ghee
Mix / bind the ingredients by hand forapprox 2 minutes.
Gradually add the plane water and knead the dough gently for approx 8-10 minutes.
Once ready, cover and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
Take some dough and create small sized balls, roll out thinly
Using a knife, create small cuts
(This avoid the Puris expanding while frying and keeps them crispyWhen oil is hot and ready, deep
fry in small batches over a medium heat, turning occasionally.
Fry gently until golden brown (approx 7-8 minutes)
Strain and Remove
Once cooled store in an air tight container.
Can be served once cooled with mango chutney or on their own.
