This is the first video of the Brittany series. We explored this lovely corner of the world for 2 weeks. The rest of France was suffering badly with a heat wave but we had it mild over there. Lucky travelers.
Brittany (French: Bretagne) is the farthest west of the regions of Metropolitan France. It is named after the historic and geographic region of Brittany, of which it constitutes 80%. The capital is Rennes. It is a peninsular region bordered by the English Channel to the north and the Bay of Biscay to the south, and its neighboring regions are Normandy to the northeast and Pays de la Loire to the southeast. Bro Gozh ma Zadoù is the anthem of Brittany. It is sung to the same tune as that of the national anthem of Wales, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, and has similar words.
The region of Brittany was created in 1941 on 80% of the territory of traditional Brittany. The remaining 20% is now called the department of Loire-Atlantique, which is included in the region of Pays de la Loire, whose capital, Nantes, was the historical capital of the Duchy of Brittany.
