Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at this low profile Optronics LED detail light. Let's get started. Like the name suggests, this is going to be very low-profile. Compared to some of the other options that mount in a similar fashion, this sticks up far less than the other options, even some other options from Optronics.
So if you want that low profile look, this is a great way to go. You're gonna get all your typical taillight functions such as your running light like we see here, our turn signals, and our brake lights. And those LEDs are going to be much more power efficient, last a lot longer and be a better alternative to maybe the incandescent bulbs you have on your trailer. It's all gonna work out really well. And it's gonna be plenty bright for others to see on the road.
Now, everything from the lens to the outer flange here, is going to be a nice polycarbonate construction. It's going to be fairly impact resistant. So if there are any rocks or anything flying up on the road that might hit this, I don't think you'll have to worry about it. This outer flange here also contains our four mounting locations. We just had two existing holes in the top and bottom our trailer today.
And you will need to pick up your own mounting hardware so you can mount it however you see fit. Just make sure you pick up that hardware that you need. Everything is sonically sealed. So that means it's going to be water resistant and even submersible. So if you do plan on putting this on something like a boat trailer, where it's gonna be in and around water, you're not gonna have to worry about it.
As far as installation goes it is gonna be pretty straightforward. Like I mentioned before, you will need your own hardware, or just reuse your old hardware depending on what you're replacing. And because it has that industry standard PL3 plug on the back, it's a whole plug-and-play system. If you don't have that plug on your trailer already, you can pick that piece up here on our website and install it onto the trailer end. But otherwise, let's check out how we did the install. We'll start our installation off by removing our old light. The one we have here is just attached with this grommet piece here. So I'll get a plastic trim panel tool and use that to pry up around the edges until we can get that out of the housing here on the trailer. Kind of working our way around like this. Once we have it removed, we can come around back to our PL3 plug and unplug it and then go and grab our new light. Now we can take our new light, and since it has that PL3 plug already on it, we can just plug it into our existing system. Now, if you don't have this on your trailer, you maybe had something that was hardwired before, you can pick up this piece separately and install it. Otherwise, you can just plug that in. And then we can add all the wires in here and mount up our light using the existing holes we have on our trailer on the top and bottom. You will need to pick up your own hardware. Luckily, we've got some on hand here. So just use that to attach the light here. Once everything is attached and plugged in we can go ahead and test our lighting functions. Starting with our taillights, our turn signal, and the brake lights. Once we've verified that everything on here is working we can go ahead and hit the road. And that'll do it for our look at this Optronics low-profile LED detail light. Thanks for watching..
