UK waterways currently face ongoing challenges from phosphate pollution, leading to excessive algae growth and reduced oxygen levels in aquatic environments. In response to these environmental concerns, UK manufacturer Marsh Industries has developed innovative wastewater treatment solutions.
The family-run business, under the leadership of Steven Boyer, producing 200 treatment plants per week, has developed a system called Phos-Lite - a tertiary treatment chamber utilising Poseidon Pohs-Pellets. These naturally occurring minerals absorb phosphorus from water without chemical intervention, successfully reducing phosphate levels to 0.2 milligrams per liter in discharge effluent.
The company has invested £1.4m in research and development. Although a small business, Marsh has established itself as the UK's market leader in water treatment solutions. The company continues to develop products that exceed both UK and international standards, maintaining its focus on environmental compliance and sustainable water management.
