This is an Avon FM53. It's Avon's high end respirator of the current generation and is very variable in usage. The facepiece can accept 40mm filters, both the specialty Avon "concave backed" filters as well as third party filters. Battery powered forced air(PAPR) setups may also be used with a 40mm hose.
Variable resistance valves may be fitted to the mask so that the user can switch between positive pressure SCBA and negative pressure setups such as filtered air. This particular mask doesn't have the variable resistance valve set.
There is both single port FM53s as well as dual port. Dual port can be used in conjunction with either SCBA/filtered air combo(can switch between the two on the fly) or connected into a CCBA rebreather loop.
This mask is used by Law Enforcement as well as military world wide. In fact, this mask is the current mask used by a myriad of special forces from different countries. We are talking, among others, SEALS and RANGERS for the US; UK special forces such as SAS; Irish Army Ranger Wing; French special forces; as well as units in Asia. Again, that is a brief summary. There are others. There has also been trials with this mask as a helicopter aircrew respirator, fitted with a special hose and filter/blower system. I currently don't know how that is working out.
Mask does not have the VPU(voice projection unit) that seems to be fairly commonplace when carried in a military situation. I guess I'll have to beg for one of those somewhere in here. Can be fitted with both VPU and comms cable simultaneously.
In this vid, I have the Avon particulate filter installed for use against, among other heavy aerosols, tear agents. It is concave backed as is the CBRN filter. Also fitted towards the end is the tinted outsert. The outsert is backwards compatible with the other Avon 50 series masks, such as the M50 and C50.
