Zhou Qi played his first season in the CBA as a 18 year old phenom and is currently the biggest hope for basketball in China. He first got international recognition in the U16 World Championships in Turkey where he had a triple double scoring 48 points, 28 rebounds, and 15 blocks during the Semi-Final game leading his team to a 94-90 win over Germany. During the Finals Zhou Qi led his team to the championship defeating hosts Turkey 67-66, while Zhou Qi had another spectacular performance with 30 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Later that year Zhou Qi also led his U16 Chinese National team to the win the Asia U16 Championship blowing out Korea in the Finals 92-52, Zhou Qi had another triple double with 43 points, 19 rebounds, and 12 blocks.
With numerous NBA Scouts in attendance Zhou Qi was able to showcase his skillset and potential in the CBA this season. Although his team the Xinjiang Flying Tigers had a miserable season finishing in 9th and not making the playoffs despite being picked to be title contenders this season, Zhou Qi's stock is on the raise and he is expected to be the next Chinese NBA player.
