Written by John Fogerty played by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It appeared on their fourth studio album, Willy and the Poor Boys (1969).
The song chronicles the tale of the fictional band Willy and the Poor Boys, and how they play on street corners to cheer people up and ask for nickels.
Why this song: BSHB needed a hit on the repertoire because the existing repertoire was already slightly worn out, and “Down on the Corner” was a great choice for something like that.
"But we couldn't get it to sound like that.
To sound like CCR we certainly couldn't achieve, and to get it on our own with the original arrangement didn't work either. I didn't want to give up on that song because I felt we would get it and in the end, I came in front of the band with my arrangement idea and since Mac and Lovro are big CCR fans they didn't want to let me touch and change that legendary arrangement :), but in the end, I managed to convince them and we put it together, added a little of the BSHB touch. I think we got a really good cover of a timeless hit that we definitely had to record and immortalize.” - Marko Bosak
