Robotic shelf picking: [ Ссылка ]
FANUC America Authorized System Integrator IAM Robotics develops mobile autonomous robots that retrieve products from distribution centers. These FANUC LR Mate robots are designed to pick products for e-commerce and small-quantity order fulfillment. Industry trends have strained the capabilities of manual labor and increased the need for warehouse automation. These robotic retrieval units allow warehouse customers to support rapidly growing sales and new demands for faster delivery.
IAM Robotics engineered these mobile units to significantly reduce automation cost and deployment time by providing industrial robots that work with existing warehouse infrastructure. The FANUC robots navigate and locate products through the use of 3D Vision. IAM Robotics' Rapid Vision technology enables the robots to see the warehouse environment in real-time, so they can meet growing demands for faster order fulfillment. It also allows the robots to automatically find and pick products on shelving without any precise setup. IAM Robotics’ Rapid Vision technology, combined with FANUC’s compact and highly reliable LR Mate robot, has demonstrated picking speeds up to 1100 items per hour – that’s almost 200% faster than sustainable manual rates.
Founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by robotics experts from Carnegie Mellon University, IAM Robotics has developed the core technology for mobile picking robots. A first prototype system was demonstrated at Rochester Drug Cooperative in November 2014. During this proof-of-concept test, the robot was set up in under 24 hours and was able to see and pick products that had never been touched by an autonomous robot. Today, IAM Robotics is developing production robots to be deployed in live distribution centers in 2016. These novel robots will create new opportunities for applications ranging throughout the global supply chain and beyond.
