The Silverado name was stripped away from a trim level previously used on its predecessor, the Chevrolet C/K pickup from 1975 through 1998. General Motors carries on offer a GMC-badged variant on the Chevrolet full-size pickup in the GMC Sierra name, first found in 1987 for the variant on the GMT400 platform trucks.
