On Wed 14th Oct 2020 a very nice visitor to Prestwick in the form of a Boeing 727-2S2F (RE) operated by 2 Excel Aviation on behalf of Oil spill Response. The aircraft was performing a training flight from it homebase of Doncaster, the aircraft carried out around 8 circuits with a crew change about halfway through on completion the aircraft departed back to Doncaster.
This particular aircraft started life with FedEx in 1983 before being converted for her current oil spill response role. Oil spill response utilise 2 B727 aircraft for the dispersal of detergents in the event of an oil spill, the 727 is a very stable platform and well suited to the role.
