Fireworks were let off in the junction in Parliament Square as thousands of protesters gathered for the Million Mask March, falling annually on Bonfire Night.
As usual the protest is generally anti-government but due to the ongoing restrictions, like last year's, this one had a hue of anti-health passport rhetoric. Regular protesters joined forces alongside hooligans and the odd antifa-type as the police executed a particularly heavy-handed response and the mainstream media made sure they were present.
Some people threw bangers and even fireworks at police and many were ignited amongst the busy crowd. A couple set off horizontally exploding at random between people's feet. As far as I know, miraculously noone was injured due to fireworks.
Eventually police moved into the junction in an attempt to prevent any more being let off. Why they waited a good fifteen minutes to do this is a mystery.
