Hurricane Milton is advancing towards the western coast of Florida, causing tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and strong winds in the region.
Federal and local authorities continue to issue warnings regarding Hurricane Milton, which is heading towards Florida’s coastline.
In a statement by the National Weather Service (NWS), it was noted, "If Milton stays on its current path, it will be the strongest hurricane to hit Tampa Bay in 100 years."
The statement also estimated that the areas most affected by the hurricane could be submerged under 3 to 4.5 metres of water and could experience large ocean waves.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton, with wind speeds reaching approximately 260 kilometres per hour, has been upgraded to Category 5.
The statement warned that flash flooding caused by the hurricane could damage both coastal and inland areas.
