German authorities have admitted they received warnings last year about a suspect involved in a car attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg that left five people dead and over 200 injured.
Saudi officials had alerted Germany months ago about a potential threat involving Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen.
Officials reportedly flagged his extremist views and recent travel patterns, raising security concerns.
German authorities acknowledged the warnings but decided they weren’t enough to take immediate action.
Al-Abdulmohsen is a Saudi-born psychiatrist who moved to Germany in 2006.
He established himself professionally but became increasingly vocal against Islamic regimes and German policies.
He was also known for helping Saudi women escape to safer countries.
In recent years, Al-Abdulmohsen expressed dissatisfaction with Germany’s immigration policies and refugee treatment.
