Hi, my name is Dr Sakshi and I’m a doctor.
I am going to explain how COVID-19 vaccines work.
Vaccines are injected into your body. They do not remove anything from your body and they do not change your genes or DNA.
COVID-19 vaccines teach your body to recognise and fight the COVID-19 virus. They do not contain COVID-19, and you cannot get COVID-19 from having the vaccines.
Mild side effects, like headaches or muscle pain, mean the vaccine is working.
COVID-19 vaccines help prevent serious illness and death. Everyone can do their part to protect their family and community by getting vaccinated.
