"We are looking to have a good relations between Iranians and the Americans, the non-smooth and non-normal relations between them is reflected on Iraq. We have a different view from Iranians. We look for the multi-national force as per the government of Iraq and as per the international resolutions. We are totally different from them because we are not looking (on) them as the occupation force. Iraqi government is a sovereign government and Iraq is a sovereign country and they have to decide what type of the forces they are. We do need our brothers, Iranians, to appreciate what is the vision of the Iraqi government. We might differ from the United States for our relations. We do need to have a good relation with Iranians. We have common interest, we have a mutual interest, we have a border. We have a lot of interest, common interest between us and we do need to promote this relation."

STORYLINE
Iranian officials have told Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that only a United States pullout would bring peace to his nation and said the Tehran government was doing its best to help stabilise neighbouring Iraq.
Al-Maliki said decisions about an American pullout were between Baghdad and Washington.
Meeting with al-Maliki, a fellow Shiite, in the sect's holy city of Mashhad, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that "occupation forces" were responsible for the problems in all aspects of life in Iraq.
Speaking to AP Television in Tehran Iraqi Government Spokesperson Ali al-Dabbagh said strained relations between Tehran and Washington were "reflected on Iraq".
Al-Maliki has long played a delicate balancing act in the bitter rivalry between his two allies, putting off Iranian calls for an American pullout while balking at US pressure to take a tougher line against Tehran.
"We have a different view from Iranians. We look for the multi-national force as per the government of Iraq and as per the international resolutions. We are totally different from them because we are not looking (on) them as the occupation force," al-Dabbagh said.
"We do need our brothers, Iranians, to appreciate what is the vision of the Iraqi government. We might differ from the United States for our relations. We do need to have a good relation with Iranians. We have common interest, we have a mutual interest, we have a border," he added.
Iranian support boosts al-Maliki amid Iraq's political turmoil, particularly rumours of manoeuvres among his fellow Shiite politicians to remove him.
