1. Why is ETA required?
== The Internet is full of information regarding ETA certificate policy but first let me explain what ETA is...
ETA or Equipment type Approval is required if you are either a manufacturer or importer of electronics products where Radio Frequency does matter...
For example if you are importing or manufacturing any product like bluetooth headphones, WiFi Routers, Smart Home Gateway, Wireless Mouse Keyboard you need ETA approval by WPC Wing.
Because in the above cases RF does matter.
2. How can a product get an ETA Certificate?
== Here the product must fulfil two major criteria to get ETA Certificate
First, the product should be exempted from import licensing requirement as per Directorate General of Foreign Trade or DGFT
and secondly the Product must come under delicensed frequency bands as per Gazette notification from Ministry of Communication, Government of India.
3. Now the question is..... what will happen with all the products which are not exempted from the import policy of DGFT ?
== In those cases for the ETA, one has to contact the Regional Licensing Offices or RLOs of WPC Wing ....
For the additional information there are five RLOs of the WPC Wing.
RLO Kolkata, RLO Delhi, RLO Mumbai, RLO Chennai, RLO NE that is in Guwahati.
4. What are the documents required to obtain an ETA certificate?
== Basically you have to submit your application with following details :
Copy of the Certificate of incorporation of the company.
Copy of the PAN card of the company.
RF or Radio Frequency Test report issued by accredited foreign laboratory or any Indian laboratory accredited with NABL.
In case of imported products, If it contains multiple RF modules, then test reports of all RF modules without any alteration to be submitted to WPC Wing.
Along with above details Description of the product and
Receipt copy of the online fee for ETA is required.
5. What are the fees for obtaining ETA?
== For obtaining ETA, a fee of Rs 10,000/- is required to be paid for each product having inbuilt one or more RF module(s). The product may be a finished model or RF module. and the payment process will have to be made through Bharatkosh Portal.
6. Now the question is: What is the validity period of an ETA Certificate?
== There is no period restriction for ETA and no further renewal is applicable for the particular product for which ETA Certificate was being issued without any modification.
