After more than 6 hours of delay and backroom negotiations, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer sent lawmakers home with no action on voting rights. Right now, Democrats and President Joe Biden do not know whether they can pass the 2 big voting rights reform bills in Congress. Republicans say Democrats are focusing on the wrong issues. Senator Schumer has stated that "If the Senate Republicans choose obstruction over protecting the sacred right to vote, as we expect them to, the Senate will consider and vote on changing the Senate rules." Besides voting rights being a party base priority for the Democrats, Senator Schumer wants to put Republicans and some members of his own party on the record with voting rights reform. Republicans say this is just a smoke screen and a waste of time. They say it is all about keeping voting rights in the news, leading up to the November elections. Senator John Cornyn says, "There are a lot of important things we could be doing and presumably working on together instead of this purely partisan power play." Meanwhile, the Supreme Court temporarily halted the Biden Administration's vaccine-or-test mandate for employers who have more than 100 workers. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
