At over 31,000 sq. ft. of training space, the $10 million NAIT Sandvik Cormorant Centre for Machinist Technology offers students hands-on training on state of the art equipment. The Centre can train over 1,300 students annually from a range of programming including a four-year Machinist Apprenticeship program, a full-time CNC Machinist Certificate program, a Pre-Employment program, 1st period Millwrights Apprenticeship training, NAIT Technology service courses, and NAIT Continuing Education courses.
The Centre is ready to deliver customized training to industry. We have:
• 5 machine shops/labs, consisting of:
- 47 manual lathes, 21 manual milling machines, 18 drill presses
- 26 hybrid turning centers, 10 turning centers with live tooling – 2 with sub spindles -2 with “Y” axis.
- 10 tool room machining centers, 10 mini mill machining centers, 5 vertical and 1 horizontal machining centers with 4 and 5 axis capability.
- State of the art metrology/inspection lab, and CNC - CMM lab.
- 2 programming computer labs, 5 smart classrooms.
