This is a quick illustration of what I call the "Motessier Stern Tie" as I first read about it for use in arriving at the dock singlehanded. One of my viewers suggested I try using it for leaving the dock singlehanded as well -- and to use the rudder while the engine is in forward to adjust how far the stern is away from the dock. This video shows the "Moitessier Stern Tie" and the sensitivity to rudder angle. Part 2 will show it used to leave the dock. It was a great suggestion from a viewer -- I continue to learn a lot from other sailors -- so thank you very much for your suggestions.
