As we venture to level 60 in Phase 4 of Season of Discovery, it's time to take on the world-renowned School of Necromancy - Scholomance! SoD is bringing a lot of updates to the Dungeon, specifically when it comes to loot.

Introduction to Scholomance
Scholomance is located in the Western Plaguelands, on an island to the southeast. When Kel'Thuzad transformed the Plaguelands into what it is today, the Barov family partnered with the Lich to restore this old fortress and turn it into a School of Necromancy. Lead by Darkmaster Gandling, the Barov family still roams the halls, and it's your job to take them down.

How to Get to Scholomance
Reaching this grand school is a lot easier (or at least faster) for Horde players, as the Undercity is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Alliance players have a long flight ahead of them. Below you can see the entrance to the Dungeon marked, as well as the closest Flight Path for Alliance players. Horde players can travel from either the Undercity or Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills.

How to Unlock to Scholomance
The way to Scholomance is shut. It was made by those who are Dead, and the Dead keep it.

Well, perhaps not quite that dramatic, but the door blocking the Dungeon Portal is locked. There are a few ways to unlock the door:

Complete the Key to Scholomance questline, which rewards you with Skeleton Key Skeleton Key.
A Rogue with Lockpicking Lockpicking 280 or higher can lockpick the door.
Powerful Seaforium Charge Powerful Seaforium Charge (requires Engineering Engineering 275) can blast the door open.
There is also a lever on the inside of the door that opens it, which you might get lucky if someone else is there forming a party, or was just leaving the Dungeon. You could also unalive yourself right at the door, run through the door as a Ghost and then use the lever after resurrecting.

The Argent Dawn Reputation in Scholomance
It is highly advisable to grab a Argent Dawn Commission and equip it before entering Scholomance. This Trinket allows you to loot Scourgestones from Undead mobs in the Western and Eastern Plaguelands, which can be turned in for Reputation with the Argent Dawn.


Alliance players can get the Trinket from Argent Dawn Commission Argent Dawn Commission at Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands.
Horde players can get the Trinket from Argent Dawn Commission Argent Dawn Commission at the Bulwark in Tirisfal Glades.
