We took an opportunity to spruce a differential cover from a Chevrolet coupe. The differential cover was originally chrome; it was left to the elements and it turned bright orange with a hint of rust. The process was as follows:
1. Remove from vehicle.
2. Thoroughly clean both sides if the cover.
3. Steel wool to remove heavy rust.
4. Coarse grit sand paper to rid the rust.
5. Medium grit sand paper to polish scratches.
6. Clean differential cover thoroughly.
7. Spray 2-4 light coats of rust preventative.
8. Allow to cure and follow up with 2-3 coats of gloss paint.
The purpose of this is to document a process we followed; remember, you have to be ratchet at your own risk! WE ARE not responsible for the outcome if you're ratchet and don't seek professional assistance!
