More hospitality jobs were lost during the pandemic than in any other sector. As we emerge from the crisis, how can an embattled industry adapt and evolve to ensure London retains its crown as a world-beating food and drink capital?
Asma Khan is the chef and owner of Darjeeling Express. She moved to Cambridge from Calcutta in 1991. Now residing in London with her husband and two boys, she comes from a royal background – Rajput on her father’s side and Bengali on her mother’s. After studying law, Khan went on to do a PhD in British Constitutional Law at King's College London.
Jeremy King has created some of the most iconic and highly-regarded establishments in London, including The Wolseley, The Delaunay, Brasserie Zédel, Colbert, Fischer’s, Bellanger, Café Wolseley at Bicester Village and Soutine, which opened in St John’s Wood.
Ruth Duston, OBE, OC: During a 30 year career, Ruth has built a reputation as a leading figure in the Business Improvement District (BID) sector, with a track record of developing valuable public / private partnerships. She has established several BIDs and partnerships representing thousands of businesses and employees and has leveraged over £30m of private sector funding, becoming the catalyst for generating more than £6bn of further investment across major parts of central London. Driving value through partnership is at the heart of Ruth’s approach to urban renewal and supporting business communities.
