LIFE-CHANGING GREETINGS | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (December 22, 2024) with SL

Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent; and in a few days, we are going to celebrate Christmas.

How are we preparing for it, brothers and sisters? Perhaps we can take the cue from Mary, Elizabeth, and John the Baptist. Today’s gospel proclaims the visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. At the time, Mary had just received—and accepted—the good news that she would conceive and bear the Son of God. She then set out to be with Elizabeth who was also pregnant. Their meeting was one of thanksgiving, joy, and bearing witness to the graciousness of God.

Hearing Mary's greeting, the baby in Elizabeth's womb leapt for joy. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, proclaimed Mary as the mother of the Lord. How did God bless us this year, brothers and sisters? How has the Lord visited you these days?

And how do we visit people? What greeting do we bring to them? Like Mary, let us be the messengers of God's word and presence that will bring joy.
