In this presentation as part of the 2021 University of Melbourne Professional Staff Conference, we spoke about:
• What is entrepreneurial thinking?
• Who is an entrepreneur?
• How the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre can help you solve the problems that keep you awake at night We come across solvable problems every day.
From the mundane to the major, at work and at home, we think "if only there was"… a better way, a quicker way, a simpler way, a cheaper way. A more efficient process, a way to cut out the middle man, something that's actually user or customer friendly.
The Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre exists to help people create solutions for those problems and match problems to truly amazing solutions produced through research. We work with staff, students and alumni of the University from every faculty, from those that are engrossed in a problem they don't know how to solve, those with an idea for a solution or a business who aren't sure how to bring it to life, to those who are already in market but need support, guidance and a cohort to bounce ideas off.
The Centre is home to the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), the University's startup accelerator program, Translating Research at Melbourne (TRAM), the University's research impact accelerator, and Melbourne InnovatEd, the University's edtech incubator. We accept staff (both academic and professional), students and alumni into our programs and are faculty-agnostic - in fact, the more people from different faculties, the better!
MEC is also a gateway to events about entrepreneurship that will really get the cogs whirring, access to exceptional business mentors, and a network of current teams and alumni working on incredible solutions to a range of problems.
