Laszlo Csiba, MD, PhD, DSci, University of Debrecen, Debrecen, Hungary, provides insights into the ongoing relevance of clinical autopsies of stroke patients. While autopsies were once primarily used to determine the cause of death, today, they serve to uncover therapy-related complications, assess treatment effectiveness, and detect hidden non-neurological disorders that impact patient outcomes. Through investigations involving over 500 patients, approximately 2-3% of patients suffered from non-neurological disorders that remained undetected but could have influenced their overall health. These autopsies provide valuable insights into both the clinical and scientific aspects of healthcare. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
