Tire technology progressed greatly in the ‘20s, as automobile owners sought greater comfort and reliability. Michelin began producing the Double Rivet tire series in 1925, in a wide variety of sizes. Revolutionary for the time, these tires feature a bias ply design with textile wire cords in the tire carcass.
Michelin was also the first company to produce a “low pressure” tire in 1932. Known as the Superconfort, it provided a much smoother ride than the high-pressure tires of the era.
Michelin continued to evolve its Superconfort tire to include siped tread for better traction on wet roads. Coker Tire Company offers Michelin Superconfort tires to fit 16-inch rim diameters, as well as 400-millimeter rim diameters.
For the antique automobile collector, Coker Tire Company offers both Michelin Double Rivet and Superconfort bias ply tires, which are manufactured in France in refurbished original molds.
