Business visitations and employer surveys are a part of a healthy economic development strategy, and the data collected helps identify opportunities and actions to support business retention and expansion, the creation of jobs, and the diversification of the local economic base.
In 2019, the Town of Claresholm Economic Development Committee recognized a need for more people in the local workforce. This presentation reflects on the knowledge, experience, and progress that has resulted from being the only community in Alberta to be selected for the 3-year Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.
Since April 2020, the Claresholm Economic Development Committee has recommended 24 foreign nationals for permanent residency in Canada, based on full-time employment, community connection, and an intention to reside in Claresholm.
