Residents of Kisumu East have decried wanton insecurity in the area, accusing security agencies in the area of laxity.
In the last one week, 9 people have been attacked by machete wielding gangs, that have been terrorizing residents in the evenings, often targeting business people rushing back home. The victims have however expressed fear of making reports to the authorities, as they allege harassment from the gang that threaten to strike back. Area DCC Angeline Were has however revealed that investigations are at an advanced stage to unmask the perpetrators, saying that police patrols will be increased to assure residents of their safety.
