The Nigerian Army has unveiled major plans to boost its operational capabilities by purchasing 43 Bayraktar TB2 drones from Turkey.
The initiative dubbed Project Guardian is expected to provide a significant boost to the Nigerian military’s efforts in dealing with insurgency and complex security challenges in the country’s North-West region.
The official announcement of the plan was made by Brigadier General U.G. Ogeleka, one of the key figures in the Nigerian Army, at a wing-flagging ceremony in Abuja.
The ceremony also marked a milestone for the 43 military personnel who have completed intensive training in the operation and maintenance of the Bayraktar TB2 drones.
