International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach said on Thursday that the Beijing Winter Olympics will make history as the Chinese capital becomes the first city to host both a summer and winter games.
Speaking at the opening of the IOC Session in Beijing, Bach said the Olympics have made China "winter sport country" and was confident of a safe and successful games while Chinese president Xi Jinping said the IOC has provided valuable leadership during the COVID pandemic.
