He knocked out Nicky Perez on April 20th then knocked out Tomas Francisco Da Cruz in June. His next fight was all the way on December 1, 1988 in Edmonton, Great Britain.
McGuigan's opponent would be the Argentinian Julio Cesar Miranda in a Lightweight bout. Miranda was no pushover, he was 29-1-3 in his career heading into this fight.
