He is survived by his wife Rajamma, children Reji Thomas Poovathoor and Mathew Poovathoor and their families. Siblings: Late Very Rev. Koshy V. Poovathur Cor- Episcopa, Late Pappachan V. Poovathur, Lily Cherian Kadamthottil Chengannur and Dn. George V. Poovathur (Chicago USA) - MOSC Sabha Managing Comm member .
Funeral was held on Friday August 16th, 2013 at 2:30 pm at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Elamannoor, Adur Kerala India.
Services were lead by His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II Catholicose of the East and Malankara Metropolitan; HG Jacob Mar Irenenios (Cochin), HG Alexios Mar Eusebius (SW America), HG Zachariah Mar Aprem.(Adur Diocese)
