The UK’s National Archives are home to more than 11 million documents ranging from ancient written records to brand new digital archives. They commissioned Magneto to make a film that would bring to life their “Archives Inspire” project that aims to transform the way the archive is perceived and accessed.
The Archive were adamant that the didn’t want a ‘usual film’ and asked us to make something that was ‘off centre and intriguing’ and they wanted to underline an archive’s fundamental role in using access to records to maintain democracy. The film also had to encompass their traditional skills of document preservation and academic enquiry alongside a new generation of records that are ‘born digital’.
We proposed and scripted a very personal take on the archive featuring the passions and experiences of the people who use the archive. The result is a slightly kooky but wonderfully atmospheric corporate marketing video.
Testimonial: 'Magneto have done a remarkable job of translating Archives Inspire, our audience-focussed strategic business plan, into a professional, vibrant and engaging film.'
