A net-zero house is one that can power itself with renewable energy. These homes are not a new idea but are absolutely an under-served market. Energy-conscious home buyers and environmentally friendly home builders have been working together for a long time to achieve zero energy homes. There has been some success recently with the introduction of higher efficiency solar panels and battery back up systems that can store enough energy to power a home for ~48hrs. While there have been successes in building a single home for people of higher means, the industry as a whole has not embraced this kind of value building for all markets.
This is where NetZero LLC has an opportunity to help create change. A change we feel is overdue and one that benefits everyone involved. We have established an inclusive business model that takes the best building materials and techniques and combines them with an efficient management process. The result is a home that costs about the same as a “legacy” built house but offers unmatched quality and considerably more value to the home buyer.
The value these homes offer is built from the ground up, literally. We start by using a pre-fabricated, high-density concrete wall system that provides an R-Value 4x higher than that of a traditional concrete basement that has to be poured and formed. From there, we frame the homes with the most efficient and customizable structural insulated panels (SIP’s) on the market. These walls offer twice the insulation and create an airtight envelope that cuts the amount of energy required to heat and cool a home by 50-70%. Energy Star rated appliances and LED lighting along with high-efficiency HVAC and water heaters further reduce the energy consumption of the house. When we combine all of these energy-saving components with a rooftop solar array and a battery backup system, we achieve a zero energy NetZero home.
At NetZero, we intend to disrupt the building industry. We also plan to include as many businesses in the industry as possible on our journey to creating a product for the consumer that is vastly more valuable and whose quality is second to none. We do not want to put companies out of business or take jobs from those who are currently a part of the “legacy” building model. We want to lead the way in doing this better and more efficiently. Everyone deserves a NetZero home.
