For Many years XR724 has been lovingly looked after by a group of volunteer engineers. Unfortunately since her return to her home at the former RAF Binbrook she has spent a majority of her time outside in the elements.
Wind, Rain, Snow, Frost and on occasion the hot sun.
While beneath her exterior appearance she is mechanically very good, her paintwork has suffered.
Over the past year the Lightning Association as been raising funds to secure a shelter for our beloved aircraft where she will receive a repaint back into her former livery and then we hope to present her to the public again looking resplendent as she once was and deserves to be.
