Cefalu is our last destionation on Sicily bevor our Tesla road trip goes on to Tropea with it`s spektacular turquoise sea and the white sandy beaches. Totally Caribbean! And a must see in south Italy.

In this episode we visit Cefalu, the resort town is beautifully situated by the sea and offers the perfect combination of town and beach.
And we make our way to the ferry in Messina where we continue to the mainland of Italy and drive there to Tropea in Calabria.
Tropea is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea with an absolutely spectacular turquoise sea and beautiful beaches at its feet, like we have never seen in Italy. And of course we also explore the city with its many charming restaurants. We have Napel style Pizza.

Cefalu is a beautiful historic town right on the sea. The location is particularly spectacular with the huge rock, Rocca di Cefalu, on which are the remains of ancient settlements. No wonder that Cefalu is a popular vacation spot.

Somewhat hidden in the old streets is the medieval washing area, which has been preserved to this day. This is where laundry used to be washed, up until the middle of the 19th century.
The old town of Cefalu is not big and so it is not far to the big square in front of Cefalu Cathedral.

The 12th-century Norman Cathedral lies at the foot of the Rocca di Cefalu rock. And the 875 year old golden Byzantine mosaics are very impressive.

The special appeal of Cefalu lies in the combination of city and beach. And like here, the beach is right behind the front of the house. And for all beach lovers, Cefalu beach offers long sandy beaches. Most of them Lidos with sunbeds and umbrellas.

We enjoy the peace and quiet at the old port in the shade. And here we discover a small path directly along the cliffs of the city. A bit hot in the midday but beautiful and quiet! This would be perfect in the evening.
But Cefalu is our last destination in Sicily. And today we want to continue to the mainland of Italy and reach Tropea in Calabria in the evening. We love to do road trips with Tesla Y. But, of course, there is always the question: How to charge in Sicily? ore : How to charge in Italy?

The last time we charged was in Palermo at the campsite and now we want to make it to the next Tesla Supercharger on the mainland. We prefer to drive sparingly and make maximum use of the recuperation on the hilly roads. And its alwas good to have the Tesla superchager in Italy.

After 2 hours drive we reach the ferry in Messina. And now it's time to say goodbye to Sicily and hello to mainland Italy.

Tropea is situated on a cliff high above the sea and the houses are built right up to the cliff's edge.
But certainly the most impressive thing is the incredible turquoise sea and the white sandy beaches at the foot of the city. What stunning colors! The sea is incredibly clear and calm. Totally Caribbean!

Tropea is certainly a vacation spot. And even if there are many people, there is a totally relaxed atmosphere in the old town. The choice of restaurants is huge and people enjoy the warm climate and sit outside.
And we want that too. We choose Napoli style pizza. Always delicious!
